January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. |
Throughout the month, we are called on to end the human rights violation that is trafficking. It’s estimated that there are about 21 million victims of human trafficking globally, many of whom are women and girls, and many of who are exploited sexually.  By learning more about trafficking and sharing with others, we empower ourselves with the knowledge to bring trafficking to an end. And, through programs like the Live Your Dream Awards, we can provide life-changing support to help survivors back on their feet.  One small way you can take action on this issue today is by sharing the facts about trafficking on social media. Will you take a moment to raise awareness?   |
The Problem Many people believe slavery is a thing of the past. But this could not be further from the truth: the International Labour Organization estimates that there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking globally, many of which are exploited sexually.  The Solution Break the silence. Educate yourself and others to end modern day slavery. By raising awareness and acting as an engaged bystander, we can work together to help women live free from violence. |
